Spinniker Hunter 31

I have recently purchased a Hunter 31 and am looking at getting her rigged with a spinniker. Any tips would be appreciated. Her previous life was a charter vessel. I intend on doing the odd race in cruising devision of course.

Re: Spinniker Hunter 31

Welcome to CruisersForum, Soul Sister.

The first decision you have to make is chosing between symmetrical (with pole) and asymmetrical / cruising (without pole but possibly with bowsprit).

IME, symmetrical gives a better performance on a cruising yacht (really efficient on a broad reach or dead downwind) but needs more work (more lines to adjust, gybing) and is more costly (the pole, more lines, more blocks).

My boat is 30' and the symmetrical spinnaker is manageable by 2 people in cruising conditions.
