Singing, vibrating in-mast furling

Our boat is a Bristol 47.7 with Hood in-mast furling on the main. When tied up in a marina and wind quarters in from the stern, the wind appears to funnel in the mast - creating a relatively loud whirring or vibration noise. Even to the point of neighboring slips complaining. Anyone noticed and dealt with the issue. Tried towels in the large opening at bottom to little avail. thanks

Re: Singing, vibrating in-mast furling

This is a common, known problem with this design. There may be a sleeve that you can hoist to block the opening, which cuts the noise down.
