Snap those up if you get a chance.

Re: Shears / scissors for cutting Dyneema
I bought the Klein scissors you bought for 12.78 as well. They didn't have any markings on the blade, like in the picture. So don't know if they changed their supplier or not.
I've used these for less than a week and they are wearing down from cutting 7/64. They did snip very clean at the beginning but now they are very dull. Which is disappointing. Ive made say around 30-40 soft shackles and each takes at least 3 cuts, somes 4.
I'm very surprised they are not making full cuts anymore.. going to look for another pair

Well, the time has come . The D16 scissors were wonderful when new and still work reasonably, but they are no longer cutting cleanly.
I get real pleasure from handling well made items and I don’t mind paying a premium for this, but I do resent overpaying simply because an item is marketed for marine use, which appears to be the case here.
D-Splicer D20 (£67.10 through Jimmy Green Marine) do seem to be identical to Nusharp 953.
Amazon UK currently sells them for £33 + £3 delivery (supplied from US)
& Amazon US from Vampire Professional Tools and Ascend Tools (US$40 & $43 respectively). If you enlarge and zoom in on the third image, the blade is stamped Nusharp 953:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...QXNCLV8H&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/VamPLIERS-Sci.../dp/B00FE3IROE
https://www.amazon.com/inch-Carbon-S.../dp/B0184H0DDE
The D-Splicer D16 (£37.20 through Jimmy Green Marine) may be these @ £9.66 + £3 delivery or US$12.53:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...QXNCLV8H&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/Utility-Kevla...al-text&sr=1-1
I suspect anything advertised as being suitable for Kevlar could be used successfully for cutting dyneema, so I also checked out electrical suppliers and found several shears at such low prices that I thought worthwhile buying to check them out. If nothing else, they will be useful as general purpose scissors so they won’t go to waste.
I ended up ordering these from Amazon UK for £3.43:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and these from Amazon de for €11.60:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/produc...KR8XB7XF&psc=1
The other source for finer scissors capable of cutting dyneema is fishing stores, as Dyneema braid is used as backing line. For finer tasks one of these made it into my basket as well for £8.99:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Changed my mind and went for these instead, which I think are the same as my current D16 scissors @ £12.78 including delivery:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...QXNCLV8H&psc=1
I will report back regarding how well these work.
Anyone with other recommendations?

Hi Amsteelbluez
The Klein scissors are very lightweight and I think would be suitable only for occasional work, but I am surprised they have not worked well for 3 mm line over such a short period. Perhaps they were not the genuine article?
Almost a year down the track I have been extremely happy with the sturdy Nusharp 956. The loss of sharpness with a moderate amount of work has been negligible. I suggest finding a heavy duty model such as this if you are doing a huge amount of work.

Re: Shears / scissors for cutting Dyneema
SWL,
That's my guess. I ordered the Clauss Titanium Bonded scissors. I think they were mentioned on here. Received them today. Looks beefier and robust!

Re: Shears / scissors for cutting Dyneema
My hands are getting cranky using razors on dyneema.
Any additional thoughts on scissors upthread re longevity/quality after several years?
Or any other scissors.
Thank you

You will still need a knife/scisors for tapering (the melted edge should not be buried). I'm happy with a knife, ground and shaped for cutting rope against a surface; it's a lot easier to sharpen than scissors.

I use tin snips. I’m on my second seven year replacement here in the Caribbean. Going with black this time for unlimited longevity.

Re: Shears / scissors for cutting Dyneema
I bought these Dyneema shears in 2017 and still use them almost daily.

Re: Shears / scissors for cutting Dyneema
I started with the klein:
Klein Tools 544KV Utility, Kevlar Shear, Fiber Optics, 6-3/8-Inch https://a.co/d/4M4tZge
But they seem to have dulled quickly. I was working with 7/64 and 3/16. Then bought the Clause titanium 18475 5.5". They worked great. Still use them 95% of the time. Was starting to not cut through some strands, so I tried sharpening like I do with my knives. Didn't do great but they still cut.
I have a new pair, Ascend Tools, I use when I need quick clean snips like tapering 5/16 - 1/2 diameter. They cut through full diameter 3/16 cleanly (for now since I use is sparingly)
Ascend Tools 5-1/2 inch Carbon Steel Shears - Kevlar, Dyneema, Vectran, Spectra, Technora, Nomex, Innegra, Dacron, Fiberglass, Carbon Fiber, Breathers fiber cable https://a.co/d/0hsAv7E
I then got a large US Heritage 8210LR based on some positive words from a users I follow on instagram.
https://hausoftools.com/products/her...strial-coating
With Rockwell hardness 72C. Very sparingly used. Mostly on 7/16 and up.
I'd say I use the scissors pretty consistently, making products for my ChanMadeGear. All the scissors only cut Amsteel Blue
Made these last night using the Clauss and Ascend

Re: Shears / scissors for cutting Dyneema
If I'm not mistaken, those Ascends are made by Clauss as well, just re-branded.
I save my scissor's edges by using a ceramic knife whenever possible.
I was also recently turned on to, by some tall-ships guys in Mystic, to a shear made by Knipex, designed for cutting conduit or something. It uses disposable drywall-knife blades, and really highlights the difference in blade quality between the Home Depot blades and the German one that came with it.
You have to modify the aluminum deck it cuts against, but once you're in business it'll cut though 1 1/2" poly rope as easily as 3/16" Dyneema. It has been a game-changer for me: the Knipex 94 35 215
