Selden traveller system

Apparently parts for my Ronstan 1.5” traveller are made from unobtanium, making it so that to get a functional traveller system the whole thing needs replacing.
Now I’m not a long time sailor who spent his youth racing, not sailboats anyway, so is a Selden system a good quality, strong system?

I don’t need a racing system, but I do want one that’s good quality and strong.

Re: Selden traveller system

If you have to replace everything I'd take a look at garhauer marine. Just as good as harken, selden, etc and usually 30% less expensive. They usually like you to ship your old traveller to them and they fabricate a drop in replacement.

Re: Selden traveller system

I had wondered about Garhauer myself, but the Rigger brought up Selden.
Original idea was of course to add parts to my existing traveller to make it fully functional, however said parts aren’t available.

Price is as always a consideration, I don’t need any kind of gold plated carbon fiber racing thing, but I do desire something that is strong and durable, that has good parts availability, cause everything eventually will need parts.
