Sail Repair in South Florida (both coasts)

Hi all. I have some sails that need a few additions or repairs:

1. Main needs sail slide, and another row of reef points.

2. Genoa needs new sacrificial strip, some restitching, spreader patches.

3. Bimini needs a few access slits created (minor)

Located near Port Charlotte, but travel to both coasts, SE and SW. I need a reliable and economical shop to get this done in the next 30 days. Thanks for any recommendations. It seems that straight ahead sailmakers seem disinterested and expensive, not especially timely.

Thanks for any recommendations - feel free to PM me...

Did you try Mack in Stuart? They’ve done well for me.

Re: Sail Repair in South Florida (both coasts)

As for the sails, you might want to contact Atlantic Sail Traders in Sarasota, at 941-351-6023. The company is involved in re-selling serviceable used sails but also builds new sails and is capable of making repairs. We have not dealt with the company with respect to sails, but other gear, but on my last visit, they had employed one of the top sail makers that had formerly been with Ullman Sails, also of Sarasota, that had previously done good work for us. Ullman is, of course, also an alternative. Lastly, there is another resource you might contact, Knighton Sails, 2100 20th St, Sarasota, FL 34234, (941) 365-7245. Knighton is known locally in Sarasota for his good work.

FWIW...

Keith at Advanced Sails in St Pete. Now farms out new sails but still does his own repairs. I've used him for decades. 727-896-7245.

Try Kurt Martin Sail Repair in Ft Myers, 239-691-4769. Website:
Sailrepairfortmyers.com. He repaired my main & jib which held up well.
I considered the cost reasonable for the work performed.

Ullman Sails Florida
957 N Lime Ave, Sarasota, FL 34237
(941) 951-0189

They helped us with repairs on short notice, were friendly, and did a good job.

Worked on our junk sails and did so promptly.
