yup, helps a lot, especially in an application where it is not being rubbed/chafed.

Colligo claims their DUX uncovered is still good for a 10 year period for standing rigging. Is this partly because the diameters are wildly over-strength to prevent stretch?

Yes, exactly. Their stays are specced for creep, gives you enormous breaking strength. SO you can lose a ton of strength and still have a good safety margin.

Re: Running Rigging - Sun Baked But Still Useable?

Wow, great information and feedback. I appreciate the insights. Upon inspecting the halyards in a bit more detail after giving them a warm water bath, I have found some areas of concern - fraying and rope clutch pressure - and will be replacing said halyards anew.

Unfortunately I am not going to make dumping my main at sea a YouTube priority.

I have found that I have been able to keep sails & lines from deteriorating by mopping or soaking (sails on the lawn & lines in a 5 gal bucket) in a 50/50 solution of AmorAll & water. Bungies get treated with SPF50 worked in & excess toweled off.

I never would have guessed that you could protect bungies with sunsceen. They've been a minor pain in my life, because they are very useful but die after 18 months. Thanks for the tip!
