rotating wing mast trim hardware and lines

Most rotating wing masts have control lines that trim the mast angle of attack.
In practice, for most boats, are the control lines typically increasing mast rotation, or are they decreasing mast rotation?
Two more ways to ask the same question:
Without control lines, is the mast under-rotated or over-rotated?
Is the windward control line typically used, or the leward line?
Please only respond if you have hands-on experience with this setup.

Re: rotating wing mast trim hardware and lines

The rotating masts I have sailed with have always rotated on their own and the control line was a limiter. With this in mind, without the control line you would be over-rotating the mast.

Thanks.
