Rigging Problems - Hanse 531 / 540 / 630

Dear cruisers

i would like to start a new thread discussing the rigging problems suffered on Hanse 531/540/630 using the standard aluminum Sparcraft mast/boom combination and how to solve them.

Rigging

Dear Witzgall

Well if you had a Hanse you´ll probably know what I´m talking about!.

Boom bends ( until it brokes in two parts), halyard line chafes, stoppers didn´t stop the halyard lines, Boom to mast fittings broke, Spinakker line chafes, water ingress at the mast to deck, wiring interfere with lines inside mast.. and on and on....

Rigging

Dear Defjeb

Well I was firstly concerned by the rigging.

Having a cheese as rudder stock is only bad if the cheese brokes.

Defjeb and Jose;

Which model do you own? I have never heard of these problems. As an owner, perhaps you can fill us in?

Hi Jose,

Do you still own your Hanse 531?. I agree with all the problems on rigging (Except boom and Goose neck didn;t break on mine yet). Did you manege to fix them?.
I also have problem with the kicker connection to the boom. The steel plate keeps on breaking. But it's such a poor job. Four little rivets for all that tension. Bad Job Sparcraft
