Plastimo 406 Furler

Good day,

We recently acquired a 26 Ft Beneteau First, with a Plastimo rolling Furler. The Furler's feeder seems to be shot/broken, as the line "falls off" the drum, effectively jamming the system and preventing from furling in the sail.

Can one buy the feeding system separately?

Would it be possible to replace the drum of the current system with a 609 system (only drum and enclosures)?

What other options are there to make the system fail-safe? I intend to single-hand the boat, and it is quite scary if the system jams, when you want to reduce sail area in strong winds.

Thanks
Jaco

I also have this problem with the reefing line coming off the drum and jamming things up. I seem to remember seeing a stainless steel guide loop on some drums, I don't remember seeing one on mine though.
