Need mastgate (where sail sliders feed into mast) for a Pearson 30. Thanks!

This is a repost -with more specifics-of my posting from yesterday.

Pearson 30 . . .

I managed to crack the mast-gate, and while I search the net for information\on a replacement, I though I would share the question with
the Forum.

Meanwhile, I am looking at Pearson users' groups.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what a "cracked gate" is.. the groove in the mast cracked? or is your track riveted on the mast? If so, then isn't a gate just "no track" ...? Got a pic?

The "gate" on the mast is the hinged door that opens and provides
access for feeding the sail sliders into the mast (externally).

thanks!

Here is another attempt to upload a photo of the mast gate.

Save yourself a bunch of trouble
But a new mastgate from
Mastgate.com
Maybe 50 bucks
They might even be able to customize
so you don't have drill more holes
Cheers

At this point, given a bit of a tool & DIY background, I'd just fabricate one myself. Or barring that, measure the key dimensions of the thing & query several spar makers, & rigging suppliers.

Thank you for the information. I am going to try the website at sail
gate.com and see if they have a replacement.

My last boat was a Pearson 30, and that gate gave me no end of trouble. The pin had to exactly the right size or the slides would not pass easily, and get jammed. So frustrating, especially when sailing alone.

Best of luck finding a replacement. Might be easier to just sell the boat. Thats what I did.

On some boats I just didn't have a gate. When the sail is lowered the slides come out, which is what you need for a good reef anyway if they stack up too much above the boom. I guess closing the gate is just useful for when you store the boat?
Other boats I had no opening at all and lived with the stack up.
