If they are not too bad you can clean them without removal, just a bit more of a faff, lots of old rags or tissue to mop up the petrol, diesel or degreaser or whatever you use to clean the old muck off. Once you've done it the first time it will give you the spur to clean them regularly so that you don't need a deep clean!
I'm trying to help a friend get a Westerly Oceanlord back in the water, and he's got a seized Meissner ST18 that we're trying to fix.

Please can you help with the "very straightforward to remove the top" bit? It's really not obvious or intuitive how we'd do they, and we don't want to force anything.

Thank you.

Did you get a reply to this? There is a flat circlip on the top with little indentations on eaacg end to spread and lift the circlip out of the groove. A fine screwdriver can be used but take care not to scratch the SS plate underneath.

I just wanted to update this thread, as it is one of the few resources I found prior to servicing mine. A mallet with a block of wood to the feeder arm in a counter-clockwise fashion did the trick. Keep going and you'll get there. There isn't a much easier method, although this approach was fairly straight forward once the knowledge was there. I'll be servicing my 23ST-41's soon.
