Mast Lowering - Neat, Permanent A-Frame

Just come accross this 27' footer with a very neatly done permanent A frame for lowering and raising the mast. Boat was apparently based in Holland (lots of Bridges!), hence the mod.

Not sure how useful for all you world girdlers , but IMO so neatly done worth sharing

we use to have a system like that on a stavorense kotter 1040 (dutch steel motor sailor) with wooden masts. this was for the main mast. it was working well and bear in mind that a wooden mast is heavy. we could do the with 2 persons. i have no pictures of this as it was in the 80s, sorry.

you connect the forestay (roller genua) on the A frame and of you go.

The big a$$ boarding ladder caught my eye.

They must let the boat dry out regularly. With big tides, you can let the boat go high and dry with shear legs to keep it upright. Need a way to get on and off the boat when the deck is seven or eight feet above you. Only reason I can see for such a long and elaborate board ladder. Looks like this owner has built himself a completely self sufficient boat, screw the boatyard costs.

I do like Alan Buchanon designs.
