Mainsail
Hunter 310.....sail stops about 3 feet short of going to the top of the mast....I have tried everything I can think of....Any ideas ? Help is appreciated !

Maybe the boat had more weatherhelm than the PO wanted and he had the sail shortened.

If the sail is from another boat, was the boom raised to clear a bimini ??

If the boom was raised, would not the luff be too long?

Hmmm... for the OP:
So far no one has asked the crucial question: do you mean that the sail stops short with the luff tight all the way from the tack to the headboard, or with slack remaining in the luff?
These are very different situations with different causes and cures. Give us some help here!

Yes, that is one problem with production boats -- you could easily get the wrong one!!
Also, we should ask him if the problem with the mains'l is worse after happy hour.
