19' Pathfinder
dinghy - with mizzen and gaff-headed main
see photos
Each
mast has two eyes / fittings, screwed / bolted on.
When raising sail The luff lacing snags on the 2
mast fittings
...won't just haul straight up : I need to feed - by hand- each loop of the luff lacing past the 2 x fittings on the mast.
One hand to pull the
halyard, one hand to mess about feeding the lacing around and another 'hand for the ship'
When they're up , this also means I cannot simply uncleat the
halyard and have them drop, coz...
On the way down, still gotta feed them past the 2 x fittings
Means I have to go forward from the
helm to do so :-(
A bloke told me that "rather than use a continuous lacing?" he suggested I use individual tied loops
