Did you do frapping turns before attempting to tie a knot? After the frapping turns, even some half hitches work.

Picture is probably easier. This is with paracord. Someone else said I should use lash-it. I separated the final lashing for visibility.

The frapping turns are way too loose. Paracord is nylon, doesn’t work for this. The Lash-it is the go-to product for this.

I just realized having the last knot on the rod, if the ring rotates it unwinds the lashings. I'll have to figure out how to get that knot on the lashing between the ring and rod.
