Looking for suggestions....

Hello members,
We recently purchased North 3Di sails for our Hylas 46. Just before we departed Monterey Ca. (circumnavigation) did I recevie our new sails. We installed and departed. All sails are using Cadet gray sunbrella for the furled area. The day before we left, I installed the last sail, our Staysail....when I did so, sunbrella "furled" area was misty gray instead of Cadet gray (quite a contrast between the two colors) Bimin, all side curtains, hatch covers, all covers are Cadet gray.

Needless to say, we reported this issue to North Sails....they inturn apologized and will remove misty gray sunbrella and replace with Cadet gray as ordered.

My delima..... I have now been informed by some experenced sailors, that if the misty color sunbrella is removed (unstitched) and the cadet sunbrella re-stitched.....that stitching area will be compromised (weaker area) due to the double number of stitching...i.e. blank stitching holes from being removed , along with new stitching! I inturn should ask for the sail to be replaced as ordered!

My thinking.....this "Staysail" will be my go to sail. Bottom line, if conditions deterorate....and I find myself possibly beating off a windward coast or out to sea storm.....using staysail, reefed staysail...with reefed main.....and staysail blows out due to weaked (as described above), we could find ourself in an ugly dangerious situation.

My question:
1. Is/would this altered staysail be safe?
2. Should sail be altered with altered warranty?
3. Ask for a replacement staysail as ordered in original agreement?

Would like to hear your thoughts! Thank you!

Hello members and thank you for all your helpfull replies. I must report that North Sails have stepped up and will replace the above staysail!

North Sails have been wonderfull to work with, and also must report.....their line of 3Di sails are above and beyond!! Fun is an understatement!

Thanks!
