Lewmar D1 clutches direction to winch....

Wondering if anyone has come across this.
I am a little perplexed why lewmar have this configuration direction marking on their clutches. From picture below it appears clutch should be mounted with the
lever forward and winch to the left of pic.
I have only seen them mounted the other way around and that is
the way they were mounted before my rebuild. ie Open clutch lifting and folding forward. Does it matter with the "dominoe grip" style clutch?

Certainly looks weird setup per their diagram on the handle.

My Lewmar clutches all open this way: close forward and open to the aft.

The ergonomics make sense.

Yep, Lewmars should have the hinge towards the winch (Spinlock is the opposite). The domino grip is not symmetrical, it is designed to work in one direction

(Note also that the line exit is larger in diameter than the line entry).
