Leer - for sailing boat

Guys help, please can not find where to buy a leer for a sailing boat, found in Holland but it is very far. Where in the US can you buy not only the cable itself, but also the plastic coating ???

Engine control levers and push-pull cables are everywhere.

Just pick a retailer near you.

Are you saying that a LEER is a morse or teleflex control cable?

I helped Stas move his boat and then went sailing for 2 days with him. I have contacted Stas about the leer and will get back when he clarifies. English is not his first language.

Maybe Stan is looking for a "lier" which is pronounced leer in English.
Lier is the Dutch word for winch.
This interpretation of leer is however difficult to connect to wire and plastic coating unless he means a come-a-long which would be "handtakel" or "handlier" in Dutch.Not clear however what use this would have on a boat.

Maybe but Stas is Russian. I think he spoke russian into his Google translate and it came out as leer.

I, too, am a little confused. Google Translate says it means "leather", but you describe a push-pull control cable, used for shifting a transmission, changing the throttle, or killing the engine by stopping the fuel. Made by Morse and Teleflex in different diameters (depending on the tension/compression needed) and throws (distance traveled from one position to the other) and terminations (outboards have many variations; most inboard applications have just a threaded stud).

They are surprisingly cheap and can solve a lot of issues (friction, mainly) when replaced.

just for info, I am English but play with boats in KZ where for two more weeks I will be living and the Russian for what we would call the Throttle control is "Mashinka" and the Rusky for the Morse Cables is "Kabel." If you are around people who play with boats. There u go bit of useless info.

I spoke to Stas and he is looking for lifelines. I don't know how leer came out of that but converting from Russian in Cyrillic to English can really be complicated for Mr. Google. I told him about West Marine and he now knows these are readily available.

thanks to all the guys for the answers !!! I have already figured out with a railer that this is a Dutch name, in Anglo-American it is “The Road of Life”, deck fencing, this forum helps me a lot. I want to restore my Cal for 2 years, I like to do the restoration of old equipment. For me, she is like a living person.
