These old work horses can often do amazing things. If it's in good condition and tuned it could perform beautifully. Certainly cushion and canvas work. Sails not so much, if only because of stitch size and probable lack of a zig zag stitch.

You don't have anything to loose by trying!

It won't do anything fancy, but it will probably outlast all of us.

Don't use that big thread spool on the top of the machine. You need a separate thread stand with a top feed arm so the thread will unwind vertically without the spool rotating.
You will probably need to crank up the upper thread tension when doing heavy work.
Make sure you thread it correctly. There are lots of places on the net to find how to thread it.

Make sure she is Oiled good becouse many used Machines have been neglegted for years. I got an old Singer up north which will soon have a new home on the Yacht, probably in the Engine Room to ceep her from Rusting.

Btw. Many of thes old cast iron Machines can be quickly detached via 2 screws from the bottom Cabinet. This allows the machine to be used like an open arm machine. Ceep a spare Belt and perhaps replace the rubber on the bobbin respooling reel.

Have Fun
