Installing Stainless Steel rope strake

I bought some Taco rope strakes to prevent any fiberglass damage from where the rope rubs near my cleats. They are half moon and when installed would have a hollow inside. I was thinking that I should really fill this void with something to keep water from collecting in it. It would also help bed the screws. Any suggestions on how best to install these?

Really unnecessary but you can just lay a bead of caulk down full length if it will satisfy you. Can’t hurt.
