Ideas on a deckbox

I’d like to get some sort of a waterproof deck box that would hold roughly 100 gallon size. Something of good height to also use as a bench. Would need stainless fittings. Any ideas? I’m would think many cruisers have them.

Well, they are sold for powerboats. Also, dockboxes for piers. Hundred gallons though... that's like two 55 gallon drums...?

Plastic coolers and stainless steel truck boxes such as this one

are possibilities, but as Cheechako notes, you're talking about a box about four times the volume of most of what is on the market. Where are you going to put this sucker?

Re: Ideas on a deckbox

A typical 100 gal. aquarium would be ~ 24"x 48"x 18" (HxLxD). Obviously you could make it any dimension you would like to fit your space.

Not sure what you are going to use this deck box for but my first inclination would be to built to fit your specific space. We recently built a deck/dorade box combination out of Coosa to fit our space, then glassed the outside. Very strong and one can stand on it.

Again depending on your intended usage, you could use structural PVC panels (or other materials that do not absorb water like plywood) and glass them to make your custom box. This allows you the flexibility to build the size you want and will be less expensive than buying a commercially built box.

Re: Ideas on a deckbox

Hey all good ideas, right now I’m looking at a fiberglass gel coated box 24 by 85 by 22 deep made by Taylor. Expensive but I think quality.
I have a large flush deck in front of my pilot house, 13 1/2 foot wide boat so lots of space. I’ll screw bolt it along side the bull works. I wish I had the time to build it myself as I’ve been working on this boat for over 22 months now and need to get it in the water and head West before I get too old.
