How Do You Climb the Mast ??

I used the two foot ascenders on different halyards and upon reflection, realized that there was a tendency towards "split legs" so next time I'm going to try having the two foot ascenders using the same halyard and put my prusik safety on another halyard. Then a final safety using the spinnacker halyard around the winch with my wife well away taking up slack. Thr thread is here http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...d.php?t=188280

PS: It is essential to tie the bottom of the two halyads down at the base of the mast so the climbing halyards are tight. Tree climbing is not really the same as mast climbing (with feet against tree), but some of the ideas and techniques can be repurposed to mast climbing.
