I'm having the exact same problem with my Hood Seafurl 810LD. Were you able to resolve it?

What were the symptoms? Was it binding partly thru the furl? Mine is working fine, then binding & locking up.

Re: Hood 810 halyard swivel bearing replacement
The swivel assembly consists of a centre tube around which the 2 bearing housings revolve. Each housing has upper and lower sets of bearings, which if I recall correctly, are a mixture of St. Steel and a self lubricating synthetic type balls. The housings are removed by gentle lifting the end of, and unspiralling the visible retaining rings. PARTS WILL FALL OUT LIKE CRAZY, so have a large shallow pan for disassembly. I got my bearings from Pompanette in Florida. I reassembled using silicone grease to hold the balls in place, from a dive shop. Can be a time-consuming process, but works well when complete.

Re: Hood 810 halyard swivel bearing replacement
This is one of those situations where pics of the problem hardware would be invaluble, as would tech spec's. As without having said unit in front of me I've no idea how the beaings are housed, what type & material they are. Whether it's even possible to take apart the unit enclosing them, etc., etc.

My post #4 tells you more than Hood's manual. Just requires patience. BTW, this was a 2015 Question.

Re: Hood 810 halyard swivel bearing replacement
Thx for replying Blue Stocking .(& everyone else too).. I was searching archives for any leads, hoping that people would still be on this forum. And bingo! Folks are there to help. Just perfect! Already spoke to Marty@ Pompanette, just need to pop down to the boat to measure the extrusion dia to confirm the model. The tough part will be getting the headstay off, which I've done before, to replace the bearings. May just get the stick pulled to do the swivel bearings too. If I go that route, I'll take the opportunity to replace the head stay too. Thx for the reply.
