Head sails traveller

On my Mirage 27 there are no sheet travellers on deck.I could probably purchase a 10 ' lenght and cut in two but can it hold with just screws?I don't have access in the cabin for bolts.I have one snap shackel but 6 would be quite expensive.Any comments would be appreciated.
p.s.There are these Antal textile shackles witch are not to expensif also.

Re: Head sails traveller

Since you suggest needing two, it seems that you mean tracks for the jib sheet leads, which run for & aft, rather than travelers, which run athwartships for self-tacking sails. If you are concerned about the cost of snap shackles, what about the cost of cars for the tracks? Screws will not work well in this application. They will likely pull out and/or leak abominably. Besides needing bolts, you may also want to beef up the deck where you place the tracks by replacing any core in the deck with something solid. People often use plywood or Starboard for this. Backing plates or large fender washers would also be a good idea. You will need to have access in the cabin in order to do any of this.

Re: Head sails traveller

I would also explore barber hauler systems and low friction rings.

Tackles can be used to haul the jib lead any direction; in, out, or down. Many new light race boats have been dispensing with tracks.

Just something to consider, which might be lighter, simpler, and cheaper.
