Harken Mark 1 versus Harken Mark 2 furler drum. Is there any difference?

I need to replace the drum assembly on my mark 2 unit 2 furler because the top of the split drum is destroyed. The furler of course is discontinued, so I’m trying to source a replacement from the used market and have found a mark one unit 2 drum with the same dimensions and I am wondering if it will fit on a mark to furler. Anybody know that answer?

Unfortunately don't have a definitive answer for you if they are exchangeable parts. Would call Harken tech dept to get the exact info or if the MKI unit was cheap enough, give it a try.

As I recall, the split drum on the Mark 2 was an option. I had one get really distorted on a passage to NZ, but I just bent it back into shape.

Bill, thanks for responding. Believe it or not, I think I just discovered that they still sell the spool problem solved.

I had the exact problem last November. The furler drums (the black plastic drums with sunshield) for the Mark II are the same as the Mark I drum. They are still available - Part HFG601. I believe I got mine from Fisheries Supply - but I'm sure that there may be other sources. It's an easy fix.

If you can find the MkI spool it was aluminum instead of plastic.

Sorry ... I meant to say in my previous post that there is no difference between the Mark II and Mark III furler drums. I replaced the cracked drum in my Mark II furler with a drum that was advertised as a Mark III drum.
