Forspar Boom Vang

The vang no longer supports the boom, it used to. The vand does no appear to compress or extend when moving the boom end up and down.
Can they seize up?

Are you talking about the spring-loaded one? I have one that's about fifteen years old, and while it creaks and scrapes a bit, it's never seized up. I suppose it could though... I have lubed mine once or twice.

Certainly can seize up. Hot water down the tube might dissolve salt encrustation Mine freed up when I pulled down on the boom without the sail on.
