Have recently installed a WindPilot
wind vane. Am very, very happy with it in all respects but to make full use of its capabilities, I need to use a continuous loop of small diameter line -- running through a relatively small guide slot -- to operate a control knob.
So, does anyone know (1) how to butt-splice or end-to-end splice small diameter braided line and (2) how to do that without bulking-up the splice so much that it will just jam in the narrow guide slot?
If it makes a difference, I could use almost any sort of braided line for this purpose --
single or double braid, polyester, amsteel, whatever. I guess I could use three strand twisted cord, too, but the traditional three-strand splice would have the same problem.
