As others have mentioned, variations of this have been around for a long time. I almost bought used what the owner called a double genoa a little while back. Lighter material than a standard genoa, it acted like a standard genoa on a reach and opened up to a wing and wing configuration as shown in the pictures down wind. An attempt I think at a more versatile single sail. Might work fine. Never got a chance to try it out.

No, the flying sail furlers are made to sail with the sail fully unfurled. You cannot reef, or partially furl, your code zero or other flying sail. It is an “off or on” sort of technology.
