Electric to manual winch conversion

Would there be any issues mounting a Lewmar 50EST without the power drive base and using it as a manual winch?

They sell the EST without the electric motor and a conversion kit to turn the non-electric into one. You may way to check with lewmar because there might be a deck plate difference (because of the drive shaft hole) but otherwise no there shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Electric to manual winch conversion

When you do the manual to electric conversion you need to change the center stem to accommodate the gear in the power drive base. Trying to sort out if you would need to change the center stem back if the power base wasn't there. I tried Lewmar but I was unable to get through...

I would imagine you would need to. Somewhere I have a box of parts that we changed out when we went electric. How many of these you would have to change back I have no idea.

Beware of rhe space required below deck to accomodate the bulky reduction gear & electric motor.
LEWMAR was unable to quote to me one the underdeck dimensions of the reduction gear & electric motor which is critical for my boat.
I literally have to buy the electric winch and measure it myself
