Dynex Dux Instead of Backstay Insulator ?

To use a backstay as an aerial for ssb radio, those insulators cost a fortune - has anyone tried using something like dynex dux top and bottom instead? Salt from spray might be a bit of an issue ???

I have seen entire backstays of dux (and also of 'normal' sk75 dyneema) with an antennea wire threaded up the hollow core middle of the single braid. Works pretty well.

There is no reason your idea would not work very well. You would just need to make sure that #1 whatever fitting the dyneema loop thru are smooth and chafe free and #2 you might want to cover the dyneema with some rubber tape to protect it from UV. Salt should cause no concern at all.
