The outhaul does not need to be anywhere near as strong as the halyard. What is your purchase and cleating method ?

Same for the cunningham where you want the thinnest rope that the clutch can handle. What is your cleating system for this line ?
When it comes to stretch, to each their own. I don't see the difference between a polyester core/polyester cover line and a dyneema core/polyester cover line in terms of durability. Also, if you're having chafing issues, you should address the cause as much as possible not remedy the effects of it.

Purchase for the outhaul is to a Barient 24st winch. The cleating system for the cunningham is a Barient 23st winch.

Both will accept 5/16 though the outhaul will be 3/8.

Durability isn't the main issue which is price. A dyneema cored reefing line is triple the price of a polyester cored line and will not last any longer, nor will it make the boat sail any better or faster.

Your buck$ not mine.

SailRedemption, some thoughts on line. Fisheries Supply (big store in Seattle) stopped carrying Samson XLS since it is the same price as Samson MLX. I think of MLX as Warpspeed light. Great line for sheets and many running applications. YMMV.

Thanks, have been buying MLX, I may have misspelled it previously. The stuff is a good bargain in my opinion for better performance and cost. That and Samson XLS Extra T, both great lines so far for us.
