Having read through virtually the entire
rigging forum I noted that there were a lot of warnings about being careful of the country of manufacture for stainless standing
rigging wire/cable. So, when I asked our rigger for a bid I suggested that I would like US made materials wherever possible. I was told that no one in the US makes
stainless steel cable any more and was told that the Korean cable has not given the company any trouble. I guess I'm looking for a reality check here... anybody have info on a US or Canadian source of stainless wire for standing rigging for a 42' sailboat? If not, any recent opinions on the Korean wire? Need to get this sorted as we hope to depart on our longterm
cruise this fall and no way am I leaving with rigging that is 10-20 years old. Thanks, as always!
