Re: Color of Head Sail Sunbrella does not match rest of Boat

I took on a job one time to replace the worn out UV cover on a head sail, never again, it took so long, i made no profit, looks easy, it's not.

Re: Color of Head Sail Sunbrella does not match rest of Boat

I have replaced all of the canvas on our boat, and it is now "dressed" in burgundy. The head sail still has the old toast color. I'm not going to replace it because the sail is older, and not worth the effort. So it goes..... If we ever replace the sail, it will be sewn a sacrificial color to match.

Everything doesn't have to match. You can be unique and no harm is done. The color of the strip does not affect the sailing ability in any way. I'd plan to replace if it is worn, falling apart, or the whole sail needs replacement: then get the color to match if it is still wanted.

Ann, the way I read it, the color mismatch is not the the concern. Convincing the SO of it being unique may be the harder of the options.

Re: Color of Head Sail Sunbrella does not match rest of Boat

You know, the OP could let his SO unpick the blue Sunbrella, which can then be recycled. If one is careful with the unpicking, it can be left as one piece, which would then be usable by someone who would be happy to have it. Sunbrella is expensive, and the blue lasts extremely well used as covers for cushions in the cockpit or as sail cover type protection.

His decision will depend on what kind of yachties they want to show themselves to be. Some take pride in their frugality; others, not so much.
