Clew to outhaul

Creelock 37 with outhaul not able to attached to clew of mainsail. The grommet is too big to fit and allow outhaul pin to go through. Is it just a question of connecting OH to clew via a line?

Re: Clew to outhaul

Or a twist shackle, or a lashing. It does seem to me like sail cringles are getting bigger.

Could be a good place for a soft shackle.
