Can anyone identify this sail?

Im hoping someone can help figure out what sails are on this dinghy. The boat is a CL14, but the sailS aren’t CL. Im guessing the bird is a Pelican or Heron and the sail maker seems to be company that starts with a ‘K’? Im having a hard time finding replacement sails for my CL14 and any, and all options would be great.

No idea what that sail is from but any sail loft can make you any sails you want.
Personally had great luck with Precision out of Vancouver but most of the biggies have lofts in Canada.
5 boats at my last club had sails from Precision with no complaints at all. I had a dacron radial main and a #3 Genoa built last winter. Sailed from the great lakes to the southern tip of Nova Scotia this summer and coupldn't be happier with my sails.

A C&L 14 looks like fun! So you still have sails to measure or can figure out the P,E,I, and J for your boat?

I’m thinking that might be my best option, can any sail loft make CL sails, there are no copyright issues?

Yes I have the old sails for reference, should make things easier.

Not that it helps but that looks more like a heron than a pelican.

The old Sailrite Catalog has a complete list, and you may see it there.

I used Precision sails to replace my genoa. I asked them to make some adjustments as I thought my old one was overpowered; they made some great suggestions and I couldn't be happier with what I got. I am going back to them for the mainsail. I'm in the US, but they shipped it and the cost was reasonable.

That logo on the sail looks like a Snipe logo - sail from a Snipe boat?

Re: Can anyone identify this sail?

Here is a ref to the Snipe, with a good rendition of the class insignia.

https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/snipe

I agree the main on your CL14 is probably from a Snipe. Any sail that will fit within the length of the hoist of the mast and the stretch of the boom will do for pleasure sailing.

However, if you wish to race the CL14 in a "one design" race, the sails MUST conform to the Class Rules. I don't know off-hand what they are, but any good sailmaker will know and can build you sails that conform to the Rules. The Class Association will have a member known as a "Measurer" and he can give you all the rules.

Re: Can anyone identify this sail?

According to the CL website the OEM sails come from North Sails. They're generally not the cheapest loft, but maybe contact them to see what they want for a set of sails?

Or, as mentioned above Sailrite has dimensions for the CL14 sails, check those against your current set for sanity and then contact any sail loft of your preference to see what they can offer you. Or use the information to compare to other similar sized boats at Sailrite or Sailboatdata and see if you can find some other class set that fits (such as, possibly, the Snipe - although according to Sailrite the Snipe main is about 1.5'/0.5m shorter than a CL14).

Any idea what jib and main on a 14' boat would cost, from a moderately priced loft? Just a ball park figure would be great.

Re: Can anyone identify this sail?

I would go to Precision Sails online and fill out a quote request for a Capri 14.2 and start from there. If you have a local loft ask there too. Sailrite has some numbers for the CL14, you could use your old sails to verify.

Re: Can anyone identify this sail?

S1400. Up to a point, $100/ft of the boat. For a main. Maybe less for a jib.
