Can anyone ID This random deck fitting please?
Hi all,
I just know that someone here will be able to identify this in a flash... a deck fitting obviously meant to house something that attaches to it. Located a the foot of the companionway. Any pointers appreciated.

Isn't that normal NZ pronunciation?

LOL. Don't correct it! Always a great way to start the morning is with a laugh!
By the way, I'm sure I saw him yesterday on the docks. I think his name is Richard.

Yep, from the patina, it's bronze, so perfect for a compass right in front of the tiller.

Re: Can anyone ID This random deck fitting please?
with the location apparently on center line, under companion way, I'd go with a mount for compass or similar.

I have the same fitting but under my tiller. It takes a Heath Bosun grid compass. In my case anyway.

I have only seen bells mounted higher, so that the sound can go away from the vessel, not trapped in the cockpit footwell.
Plus rigidly mounted so that literally, you could almost hang off of them, not a wedge slip fit!
Best wishes.
