I am in the early process of adding a
pedestal guard in order to provide a fixture for my
Raymarine Chartplotter. However, I am struggling to establish the manufacturer of my existing
pedestal.
A
google search for pedestal manufacturers appears to only highlight one, "Edson" and at first glance I thought that mine may be one of there's. However, whilst mine carries many of the similarities of an
Edson Pedestal, I notice a few odd differences/omissons and I am calling upon the many knowledgeable and experienced members of these
forums to assist me if they are able. I have taken a number of photographs in the hope that someone may be able to enlighten me as to who is the manufacturer of my pedestal and if it is possible to get a guard for it.
I wish to point out that whilst my pedestal may look like an
Edson, the
compass housing is what concerns me. Mine has a "lip" which fits over the edge of the top of the pedestal and is held in place with 4 tiny self tapping screws which pass horizontally through the side of the
compass housing and into the aluminium casting of he pedestal. Looking at all the Edson compass housings, they appear to utilise the 4 bolts (which are missing on mine) and therefore, I am wondering how I would ever be able to attach the compass housing once the pedestal guard top plate is in place.
Take a peep at the photos and hopefully you will see what I mean. I've taken a number of shots of the pedestal from different angles. It measures 30" to the top (excluding compass housing) which is the same as an Edson pedestal and its base looks identical to the Edson bases that I have viewed online. However, there are no makings on it to suggest it was made by Edson which confuses me.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
