Bow Pulpit

I've got a 1984 35' C&C MkIII. I'm replacing the standing rigging this winter (original rod) and want to add a bowsprit (most likely Forespar retractable) to get my asymmetric further ahead. The only problem is the bow pulpit is raked forward to match the rake of the bow. This makes it impossible to keep the luff ahead of the bow pulpit.

Since I'm looking at replacing the stanchion bases anyway my thought is to replace the bow pulpit so that it is raked aft to match the rake of the forestay. I've seen pictures on newer boats with a more vertical bow, but none of older boats like mine.

Has anyone done this and have any pics to share? Any thoughts on doing this?

Re: Bow Pulpit

Would it work if you had the cutout front like this?...

Re: Bow Pulpit

Thanks. I have a bow roller for my bruce anchor which I keep attached. So I don't think the attachment point at the bow would work. Plus I need some space for the retractable bowsprit.
