I have five battens that have a screw-in adjusting mechanism and I am curious what is the best tension to have them set at. On previous
boats I didnt have such fancy schmancy mechanisms and never paid attention to it but now I can get them so tight that they can snap from one tack to the other, I am thinking this could be very useful in light airs as it will allow the sail to reach ideal shape quicker. But will having the battens tensioned at all times stretch out the
fabric thus resulting in an earlier blow out of the
sails? Please chime in folks 😉
