Bamar MEJ 1.02 Furler - broken Kompass Remote

We have a Bamar MEJ 1.02 Magic Electric Jib Furler. It comes with a remote from MZ Electronics called a Kompass. The issue is that the new ones run on a different frequency and need a new transceiver.

The remote is falling apart and I wondered if anyone had a MEJ 1.02 and had another way of using the furler (ie extending cable remote), or knows how I can get hold of a replacement / second hand radio remote?

Would also welcome anyone’s views on these furlers, and whether you’ve kept them or ripped it out (in place of a manual furler).

I don’t want to get caught out not being able to open or furl our jib at sea!

Many thanks!!

Why not simply wire an in/out push switch ?

It does have a cable remote control. The issue is that the boxtron is at the bow and this is only a 2m cable. I could deconstruct and bring the “out” and “furl” buttons to the garage…

Then extend the wire from your boxtron connection on the right side of the box where you plug in the wired handheld to the cockpit and use the wired version … seems simple enough… I prefer 2 build in push buttons in a convenient location = furling out / in … or a riddle switch if you prefer
