Winterizing AC issue

Hi all.
419 Jeanneau 2018 - Boat on the hard

Winterizing the AC
1- I close the intake valve, disconnect the line from the valve, use a funnel to pour Pink
2- I Turn on the AC
3- For one second the pink goes down quickly like a big gulp so I add more
4- Pink doesn't move anymore.

It is already below 55 here in Milwaukee so maybe the AC pump isn't triggering on? Which would make sense and would explain I can't move the pink....

what are my options then?

thx all!!

Re: Winterizing AC issue

AC pump might not be coming on to circulate because its too cold. I might be wrong, but I believe you should just be able to blow the antifreeze through the circuit from the raw water intake-no need to run the pump at all. Thats how I winterize mine in New England

thx for the help.
The raw water intake is where I am connecting the funnel, right before the pump that pushes the water to the system.
I tried blowing air to push the liquid but it didn't work. I don't know if air can move the liquid through the pump when it's not ON...
I also tried to blow air AFTER the pump. No success either.

Re: Winterizing AC issue

Not sure why you cant push air through-I reversed my shop vac, filled the strainer before the pump and was able to flush antifreeze through that way. Maybe your hose is kinked? I'd verify its not blocked first. You can also go in the reverse direction, but if it wont flow one way its not likely it will flow in the other. You could separate the hose at the ac exchanger inlet and flush the exchanger that way. You would need to then do the pump separately.

Re: Winterizing AC issue

I have extra lids for all of my strainers with a male garden hose connector on them. I close the thru-hull. Vacuum out the water in the strainer, and then fill with anti-freeze and put the winterizing lid on. Connect a hose, prime it and place it in a bucket of antifreeze. Start-up whatever needs winterized. Works well and quickly. No messing with hose connections etc.

Regarding blowing through pumps, I think it depends on the type of pump. Some you can, and some you can't.
