Wife + Holding Tank = Fighting With Me

Garhgh. Our holding tank has a leak. It is one of those cheapo plastic WM ones, 12 gallons I think. The O ring on the inspection port doesn't seem to want to make a seal so when it gets full...drip drip down into the bilge and all sorts of other nooks and crannies. Well rather than just get a new tank for $120 she seems to think we need a composting head for $1100. I disagree and now we have fight about it. Yay! Fighting!

I guess this is kind of a pointless post but I just felt like doing a little E-whining. Thanks for listening.

Re: wife+holding tank=fighting with me

try a composting C-Head for under $500 including shipping...

Or pump out the tank before it gets as high as the o-ring...

Re: wife+holding tank=fighting with me

what smells worse than bilgewater mixing with black water from the holding tank?
Not much, I'm guessing.

Re: wife+holding tank=fighting with me

And when it gets close to the top the vent function begins to be compromised in some setups like mine with the vent located horizontally at the upper edge. (no clearance for a better position)

Then when flushed the system can pressurize the stuff out somewhere. Even a double clamped connection tightened as tight is I can do with a standard screwdriver.

I pump out a the 3/4 mark.

Since you say "doesn't seem to want to seal", I suspect you may be experiencing something similar.

Re: wife+holding tank=fighting with me

12 years since my holding tank went away. It lived in my storage unit for much of that time until I finally figured out I didn't need it there either.

Re: wife+holding tank=fighting with me

My Dunny has a Macerator,

It discharges below the water line and comes out as a brown stain in the water,
No lumps or paper,

My holding tank is 8 years old and has never been used by the P/O.
so I did the same, pumped it straight out after use,
and using salt water to flush, I could pump it as much as I liked with no smell what so ever,

Do you have any idea how disgusting your harbor would be if everyone did that?

In a Marina, I use the Marina's Dunny, Duhhhh.

Most of my sailing was in the open ocean, Blue Water,

If the tank fills up, what am I supposed to do.

Hold myself for a week or two till I get to a Marina to have a crap.

Maybe, I didnt give enough info on it, Hahahahaha
