Water intake hose for AC system

I recently had the hose that runs from the seacock to the strainer replaced. It's 3/4" Hose and had been the cheap clear reinforced plastic or PVC hose. The tech. used a black wet exhaust hose. It is smooth inside, but after only two months in use (full time live aboard in brackish water in the Texas heart), the 4' length between the seacock and the strainer had completely clogged with algae. I was able to blow it out, but this does not seem right. Is there a better hose for this application? Needs to be 3/4" ID.

That's really the best hose. The algae is just a by product of where we live

Re: Water intake hose for AC system

Had similar problem when living aboard in TX. Mine was plumbed with good grade reinforced vinyl hose (as is commonly used in fresh water systems) -- no different. I would expect, but don't know this, that the rubberized material used in exhaust hose might actually have a more permeable surface with more places for algae to live.
