Re: waste thru hull

Brave man to fiddle with underwater skin fittings afloat. Agree with Don above. Angle grind off the outside boss, drift out the old stuff - 10 minute job. Personally I would bond in a backing plate before fitting the new skin fitting.

No, don’t mess with it in the water.

Yes, grind the center of the flange until it comes apart.

When one of mine went, I replaced all of them. I switched to TruDesign.

Re: waste thru hull

Wow, um.... respectfully I would ask if you could consider that the OP didn't provide a lot to go on other than the fact that the seacock was threaded onto a through hull which appears to have no flange nut holding it in, as if the seacock is acting as the nut. With only this info, and no picture, we did our best to theorize what they might be dealing with.

I supplied some pictures of what I thought might be the situation, and a way to counterhold when trying to remove the seacock.

Others suggested various methods to cut it off.

Most agree that hauling out before trying anything is recommended.

The OP has yet to respond in any way, even to clarify or provide a picture, or say thank you for our efforts to help.

Do you have a suggestion?

How many screwed-on seacocks have you replaced without making the skin fitting leak? Posters here are trying to be helpful.
Smartass comments like yours are not helpful.

Actually when the thru hull is installed correctly I have done several . Just use a seabung or similar device .

Re: waste thru hull

Well that is just a brilliant little tool. If my other realistic option was to haul out to do the job I think I would give that a try. At worst the torque required to remove the old seacock, or install the new one, breaks the seal of the skin fitting and you end up with a leak that you have to haul out to repair anyway. If you didn't want to buy one I think a reasonable facsimile could be made from ready to hand materials. I might just order a pair of those to keep on the boat.

Re: waste thru hull

I am zero for three on taking the sea cock off without rotating the skin fitting. It takes a lot of torque to break the threads loose, and it is nearly impossible to coordinate a diver in the water holding the skin fitting while a guy with a big wrench and a hammer works inside the boat.
