Vacuum Switch Issue

I have a Sealand VG2. I replaced the bellows, duck bills and vacuum switch. I did this because I replaced all the hoses and cleaned out the black water tank to address a smell issue. The smell has gone. I replaced the bellows and switch given they were old.

The vacuum switch, initially was turning off.

Now it will only turn off if I slightly help the switch, then the system is good and it keeps a vacuum for ever.

I decided to put the old switch in and try that, it also needs 'assistance' to turn off.

Any idea of what the heck is going on here???

It appears you've just joined cruisersforum...welcome aboard!

Sounds like either a wiring issue or a defective vacuum tank switch. See #11 in the trouble shooting guide in your owners manual if you have one. If you don't, send me a PM that includes your email address (no way to attach anything to a PM) and I'll send you the trouble shooting guide. The VF has changed so little except cosmetically since Mansfield Plumbing introduced it in 1978 that the same trouble-shooting guide works for all versions, all years.

Re: Vacuum Switch Issue

I'm too new to forum so it won't allow me to send private message, so this is what /I was trying to send.

Peg,

Hi, I have your book and years ago I phoned you for help

My email is deboyes@gmail.com for the troubleshooting instructions.

Wondering how this can be electrical when it does operate but just needs a little touch to the switch to stop it?

Thanks,

David.
