Universal Diesel 5411 incoming water hoses

I want to replace the hoses going from the incoming water valve to the impeller with hard wall hoses. The hoses currently on the boat are 5/8 ID. When I pull the hose off the barb is 1/2 in. Can anyone shed any light on what I should have? The boat is a 1982 Pearson 28-1

Re: Universal Diesel 5411 incoming water hoses

these engines use so little water it makes little difference. If both your seacock and the inlet on the water pump are 1/2" than having a 5/8" hose will do little to increase your flow. but if you'd rather have a lareger hose, you should be able to change both hose barbs to whatever you desire.
