Trudesign Plastic Seacocks

Does anyone have any experience with these.
How do they compare to other brands.

It would be nice to have a comparison as I am about to buy 2 new seacocks.

They look easy to fit and now have a strengthening sleeve. I like this design as it seems more secure than other designs.

Firstly the through hull is secured into the hull using a through hull nut. This makes the through hull independant from the seacock.

Then if desired, a sleeve can be inserted over the through hull for additional strength and then the seacock can then be screwed onto the through hull.

I prefer this to designs where the through hull is secured by the act of screwing the valve onto the through hull.

Re: Trudesign Plastic Seacocks

It is sometimes helpful if you post a link to the product you are referring to...
Is this the seacock you are asking about?
Just curious,
Bruce

Re: Trudesign Plastic Seacocks

About 6 months ago I replaced all my thruhulls with Trudesigns. Very happy so far. I made up 1/4” G-10 “donuts” that I epoxied down to even out the curvature of the hull. Worked great.

On the Greek shipyard I have the boat everybody is changing for that. Some boats have done that several years ago and no problem. I changed two last year and I am going to change another one this year. So far so good.

One of the reasons I went with trudesign I that, unlike the marelon, they require no lubrication. Also, for me, no backing plates a plus. Very easy install.

Re: Trudesign Plastic Seacocks

I have never used them but I did take a close look at a boat show. I'm also familiar with Forespar's Marlon products. If I was going to use a plastic seacock, I would chose the Trudesign. It just looks stronger.

Another factor for me is the US supplier. I once needed to get a replacement stem for a Marlon seacock from Forespar for a customer. They should have shipped one for free direct to the customer. They wouldn't even sell me one as I didn't stock Forespar products at the time. They were very difficult to deal with.

On the other hand, Raritan, the US distributor for Trudesigh is terrific to deal with. Very nice people concerned about keeping customers happy.
