Re: toilets

We have two electrics on our boat, both fresh water. Both are made by Raritan; one is the used to be popular Crown head which is still OK, the other is the FABULOUS Marine Elegance (ME).

I purchased the so called tall boy which is 14" tall (I believe that includes the seat). The other option we selected was one with a straight back so it can fit against a wall.

In my 30+ years using marine heads, bang for buck there is nothing that I believe can compare with the Marine Elegance . I searched for the best price on line, one without a microcontroller for flushing which in MHO is gross over kill. After gathering price info, we purchased ours from West Marine for about $410-420 with no shipping cost.

You really should at least look at the ME.

Re: toilets

You might be able to save some money by buying a conversion kit instead of a complete toilet. You would reuse your bowl and seat.
Both Jabsco and Raritan sell conversion kits. I like the Raritan as it is a little quieter but the Jabsco is cheaper.
I've shipped several of these to Australia. If we mail, them the postage isn't too bad. UPS or FedEx gets expensive.
If you're interested I'd love the chance to quote you.
Here is a link to the Raritan Conversion Kit.

Re: toilets

There is hardly a topic dearer to the heart of a sailor than toilets! So you will turn up more than you can read if you sift through the archives a bit.

A briefest summary of what you will find: people don't tend to like the Jabscos as much; people tend to like the Raritans a lot. I have both, and the Raritan is much better. I have had a lot of aggravation with a series of Jabscos.

HopCar sells them; I bought mine from him and can recommend him as a good vendor.
