Thru-hull fitness testing.

So how do you test whether your thru-hulls are Ok for you to leave your boat for a period ? Do you sleep peacefully or have nightmares ?

My thoughts are the more you interfere with it the more likely it is to spring a leak.
So I rely on visual checks of hoseclamps and hose stability restraints ?
