through hull valves

I want some advice on through hull fittings. I have a Robert Perry 47', ( 40 years old )with bronze taper valves. Some jam even after greasing and som others leak a little. What is the best way to repair them, or should I replace them with nylon ball valves and skin fittings. A thought has any one turned a groove in each end for an O'ring.
Cheers John.

Re: through hull valves

Replace them with Trudesign composite thru hulls and valves and be done with it. No more leaks or worries about galvanic corrosion.

I have started replacing the 1/4 turn DZR valves with Trudesign. However, if I had bronze taper valves I would be tempted to lap them in to remove any wear created over the years first. The bronze valves would certainly sell quickly if you advertised them on here.
